Today marks the fourth Gotcha Day for Rudy and Wyatt. We welcomed these beautiful boys into our home and hearts on March 21, 2021.

They helped our hearts heal after losing three dogs in 18 months. We lost Truman, Campy, and Tiger to cancer, which left a giant hole in our hearts.

Rudy and Wyatt were only 2-years old when we adopted them from Greyhound Pets, Inc. They were among the last greyhounds from Florida. Greyhound racing ended in Florida on January 31, 2020. Rudy and Wyatt arrived at GPI on January 21, 2021 as one of the last shipments of retired racers from that state. GPI continues to bring in greyhounds and greyhound mixes from overseas and other places. You can check out their currently available dogs on their website.

We’ve had greyhounds for over 20 years. Rudy and Wyatt are our 7th and 8th greyhounds. They were the most challenging of any of our dogs. They were both quite destructive for the better part of their first year with us, and poor Wyatt suffered from terrible separation anxiety for the first six weeks he was in our home.

But they have become the most wonderful, loving companions anyone could every ask for.

Last year we took them with us on a wine safari to Walla Walla to celebrate Eric’s 60th birthday.

We stayed at the Finch, a wonderful dog-friendly hotel in downtown Walla Walla.

The boys accompanied us on visits to several local wineries.

Rudy and Wyatt both turned 6 last year. They brighten every day for us. We are so grateful that they are both in good health and to have shared the last four years with these beautiful creatures.

We hope to be sharing our boys with you for many years to come.
